During electrical work, you have to constantly perform various operations with conductors. For example, you need to connect a cable with a screw. For the high-quality implementation of such an action, ring insulated terminals are used. They allow you to firmly and tightly fix the wire with a screw, while insulation serves as an additional safety measure.
These сable terminals are a metal ring and a piece insulated with a PVC sheath (skirt).
Ring tips differ from other connectors in their shape, design and function.
Appointment of ring insulated terminals RV under the screw
First of all, it is the termination of wires and their connection to the bolted outputs of various electrical devices. Connected wires can be of the following types: solid, for which connectors are not required, and multicore when working with which connectors are extremely necessary. It is not easy to clamp stranded wires without the use of cable ring lugs, and in some cases it is impossible.
There are many ring lugs with and without insulation on the Ukrainian market. Insulated tips are marked as follows: NKI N-N1. The letter «N» means the word «tip», «K» – ring, and the presence of the letter «I» determines the presence of insulation, respectively. N is the cross-sectional area of the conductor used and N1 is the screw diameter (inner diameter of the ring). In English, they are designated as RV.
The diameter of the ring usually ranges from 3-12 mm, and the insulating material can be of different colors.
Rules for the use of insulated terminals like «O»
There are several tips for successful work with these connectors in Ukraine.
- It is necessary to strip the insulation for a few millimeters longer than the length of the contact part of the product.
- The length of the ferrules must be taken into account. the length of the CP(contact part) may be insufficient. By purchasing the wrong product, you risk the security of the connection.
- The size of the product must correspond to the size of the conductor over which the termination is carried out.
- The crimped cables must not be allowed to extend beyond the insulating sheath.
